What we offer

Magic and Qabalah

When distracting thoughts annoy you try to pretend that you do not even notice their presence. Or that they have come between you and your God. Look beyond them-over their shoulder, as it were-as if you were looking for something else, which of course you are. For beyond them, GOD is hidden in the dark Cloud of Unknowing.

–The Cloud of Unknowing, Chapter 32. Anonymous Author 14th Century.

Silence is where all things are. In the unification of all noise, in the stillness of sound becomes silence. You have chosen to enter into this exploration of a place between dreams and imagination. A place many know as the tree of life. While there are many courses and books and groups and discussions of Qabalah this course will be different as it is a living breathing document not only rooted in perennial tradition but also in the future.

What you will learn

Western Qabalah is well known in these modern 21st century times. Often derived from the Victorian or earlier works of the Golden Dawn or perhaps the French Masonic traditions. While for English speakers, the French tradition is harder to find, we can still see Qabalah in the Western path has not had much updating; at least publicly.

Magic is an art that requires constant refining and revision. Like pruning a tree to help stimulate growth. With Qabalah, the more you take, the more fruit the tree produces.

The Qabalah of the O.A.R. is derived in part from the French and Russian Rosicrucian streams and in part from the Golden Dawn. The Qabalah of the O.A.R. is however different to the commonly found Qabalah of the West and will strive to be an original new understanding of Qabalah. Unlike many other schools of Western/Hermetic Qabalah the focus here is on the Axis Mundi or World Tree.

There is a tree, unique in all the quarters of the world: its fruit is of the substance of the Water of Life.

I have sought it for years and seen no sign except the gibes and ridicule of these merry men.”

The Sheikh laughed and said to him, “O Simpleton, this is the tree of knowledge in the sage—

Very high and very grand and very far-spreading: it is a Water of Life from the all-encompassing Sea of God.

Thou hast gone after the form, thou hast gone astray: thou canst not find it because thou hast abandoned the reality.

Sometimes it is named ‘tree’ sometimes ‘sun’; sometimes it is named ‘sea’, sometimes ‘cloud’.

It is that one thing from which a hundred thousand effects arise: its least effects are everlasting life.

Although in essence it is single, it hath a thousand effects innumerable names befit that one thing.”

Rumi from the Mathwani

“Neither the circle without the line, nor the line without the point, can be artificially produced. It is, therefore, by virtue of the point and the Monad that all things commence to emerge in principle. That which is affected at the periphery, however large it may be, cannot in any way lack the support of the central point.”
